This webinar aims to increase understanding of the causes, symptoms, and stages of Menopause and offers information on the treatments and supports available to help you manage the Menopause in your life.

Living with Bipolar Bipolar Affective Disorder is not just about experiencing the ups and downs of everyday life. It’s about experiencing extreme highs and lows that seems to take on a life of their own, independent of events around you. This two part webinar will discuss the experience of living with Bi-Polar for students; its causes, triggers, treatment options and ways of preventing relapse. The aim is to help students to deal with the impact of this disorder on one’s daily life. We shall try to address some of the questions you may have regarding this disorder. 30th March 2022

Compassion Fatigue Compassion fatigue is an emotional and physical burden created by the trauma of helping others in distress, which leads to a reduced capacity for empathy towards suffering in the future.  This is especially common in front line workers, however, we are all vulnerable.  This webinar looks at the symptoms and stages in Compassion Fatigue, and highlights self-management strategies that can be employed to maintain wellness. 31st March 2022

Personal Independence Payment

(PIPS)

Do you think that you might have an entitlement to Personal Independence Payment?  The payment for those who live with disabilities.  There have been many changes to benefits in recent years. This interactive up-to-date workshop will explain the criteria of entitlement to this benefit, the process for claiming and the appeals process if you are turned down. ESA & Universal Credit Are you or someone you care for in receipt of Employment Support Allowance? Have you claimed this benefit and been turned down? Are you considering a claim for this benefit?  Are you aware of what Universal Credit involves? Do you know how it will affect Employment Support Allowance?

Living with Psychosis This course will explore what psychosis is.  It will discuss the symptoms and causes of psychosis as well as the range of treatment options available for this mental health condition.  Psychosis will be discussed from both a lived experience and an educational perspective. The aim of the session is to gain or revise knowledge and understanding of psychosis, so that participants will reflect and engage positively in an individual’s recovery journey. 1st April 2022

When to Disclose your Mental Health Condition Deciding whether to tell your employer about your mental health can be difficult.  This useful practical course is a guide to advocating for yourself in the workplace.  It makes you aware of your rights and responsibilities, weigh up the pros and cons and help you decide the right course of action for you. 6th April 2022

Creative Writing for Personal Development This is a 5 week course where you will learn how to write the basics of creative writing with prompts, ideas, and discussions along the way. Everyone will learn something new along the way. This course looks at the fundamentals of writing and how to use them in everyday tasks and can help you grow confidence in writing. . This course is for those new to writing and those more experienced. 7th April 22 – 21st April 2022

Living with Self Harm This course aims to raise awareness and increase better understanding of self-harm. This training will specifically consider myths and misconceptions around self-harm, explore the idea of self-harm as a communication of thoughts and feelings and what can be helpful to those who self-harm. The course will also look at the motivation for changing self-harming behaviours including developing alternative coping strategies. 11th April 2022 2pm – 5pm
Managing Holidays and Anniversaries Holidays and anniversaries can be difficult times for any of us.   This course will explore the range of feelings and emotions that we may go through at these times.  Whether we have lost a loved one or experienced a change of circumstance such as, job loss or children leaving home; this course will enable you to find ways of coping before, during and after holidays and anniversaries. 11th April 2022 10am – 11:30am
Stress Management Stress affects us all.  We are all individuals and stress affects us all in different ways.  The right amount of stress can be a motivating factor for change or to keep us stimulated.  But too much stress can be debilitating and adversely affect our mental and physical health and wellbeing.  This course will explore what stress is and its causes and how it can affect us.  Students will examine ways of overcoming stress should it become too much and identify different coping strategies for managing such stress. 13th April 2022

Understanding and Managing Anger Anger is a completely normal, usually healthy, human emotion. But when it gets out of control and turns destructive, it can lead to problems.  This course will lead to an understanding of what anger is, how our body responds to stressors, and some techniques to control and manage anger in a positive and constructive way. 14th April 2022

How to Get the Most from Appointments for Service Users, carers and Practitioners This course will enable service users, carers and practitioners to effectively prepare for and manage appointments, both face to face and virtual, including the before, during and after stages of an appointment process and to gain the knowledge of what may contribute or hinder effective appointments.  The webinar will also explore such areas anxiety, confidence and assertiveness and how these can impact the success of appointments. 22nd April 2022 12:30 – 1:30pm
Resilience Resilience plays an important role in every aspect of life. It is not something that you are born with but emerges thorough learning about your processes and lived experience. The idea of resilience is that people are able to stand strong in the face of adversity, challenge and situations in everyday life. There are times when people feel more resilient than others depending on daily challenges.

In this course, you will explore how resilience emerges, what it means and learn some of the tools you need in order to strengthen your resilience.

Students are encouraged to engage in conversation in order to make the most of this course.

Managing Change We are always changing.  Change means different things to different people.  Although change and uncertainty is normal we can often find it difficult.   In this course you will learn about change and simple skills and effective strategies to help you be more successful at managing change.

WRAP WRAP is a self-management tool, designed to support people to understand and manage their mental health. WRAP can be used to help support people deal with challenging situations. Understanding & Living with   Depression Depression is the “leading cause of disability worldwide” (WHO, 2020) and can potentially affect anyone. This two part webinar explores signs, symptoms and definitions of depression, stigma and the conditions possible causes. Understanding Gratitude Gratitude can be a powerful thought or feeling.   In this course you will get a greater understanding of gratitude and learn practical tips you can use on a daily basis to bring about an attitude of gratitude in your life.  In this practical course we will share how gratitude can have a positive effect on your mental health, happiness and wellbeing. 6th May 2022

Understanding Medications Are you or someone you know or help affected by medications for treating mental health issues? Would you like to know more about common side effects and what may help? Living with Personality Disorder Personality disorders are still a poorly understood set of mental health conditions, and you may be left wondering what the term means. This workshop explores what is meant by the term ‘personality disorder’; we look at the various types of conditions and their symptoms, in particular ‘borderline’ or ‘emotionally unstable’ personality disorder.

We will also discuss myths and stigma about the conditions, examine what shapes our personalities, look at basic strategies to support people who live with personality disorder, and touches on the type of treatment for personality disorder currently offered by the Belfast Trust.

Building Self Esteem Many of us struggle with self-esteem issues and self-confidence daily. This can hold us back and keep us stuck in a very isolated place. We tend to take our self-worth from others and their opinion of us instead of believing in our own value and worth as a unique individual. Please join us where we can all learn and develop skills and knowledge. You will be involved in conversations where you will feel comfortable in the course to understand how important it is to value yourself and not let judgement of others hold us back. 12th May 2022 11am – 1pm
Attitudes Towards Mental Ill Health Pull yourself together, it’s ok not to be ok, snap out of it …..  I’m sure you have heard these being used towards people struggling with mental ill health, but these sayings really helpful or necessary. Mood and Movement The course will enable you to gain a better understanding of the correlation between mental and physical health. This course will identify the benefits and the importance of having routines and structure and how this benefits your physical and psychological wellbeing. We will explore the opportunities of engaging with physical activities that you can do both at home and/or community settings, regardless of ability and limitations. Carers Rights & Support Come join the Belfast Trust Carer Support Service and find out more about what your key rights are as a carer.  At the session you will learn the key benefits of having a carer’s assessment and what it will cover.  You will also be given information about what support services you can access including our monthly activity programme. 16th May 2022 2pm – 3pm

Supporting Someone with Mental Health – Having Compassionate Conversations One in five of us will suffer mental health difficulties at some time of our lives.  This course will provide students with an understanding of mental health, what it is and how it can affect our lives to varying degrees.   Students will receive the knowledge and signs to help identify that someone may be struggling with their Mental Health.  The course will enable students to be better equipped in supporting themselves and those they know who are suffering from mental health difficulties and to have the confidence to have compassionate conversations. Finally students will recognise the importance of self-care, when supporting family members, friends, colleagues and others. 19th May 2022 2pm – 3:30pm
Money Management Managing your money can be challenging, and is often a source of worry for many people. This short course will explore strategies that we can all employ on a daily basis to help us manage our money more effectively. The course will look at the benefits of budget planning, and show participants how to compile a budget. The course will be interactive, and will aim to empower and enable participants adopt strategies and new habits that will hopefully improve their ability to manage money. 24th May 2022 10am – 11.30am

 

 

 

Living with Schizophrenia Despite an estimated 1 in 100 experiencing the disorder called schizophrenia it is still misunderstood and surrounded by stigma. Through this course we will explore the definitions, the different impacts it may have and challenge the stigma around it. This course will address the experience of Living with Schizophrenia, causes, treatments and how to prevent relapse. It will be discussed from lived and educational perspectives. 25th May 2022 2pm – 3.30pm
Introduction to Psychological Therapies Different styles of therapy can suit different individuals, situations and times, so further information may help to make the best choice.
