National Stress Awareness Month
April is Stress Awareness Month and there’s no better time to check out the resources available to help you deal with stress on the B Well website. The Mind Ur Mind section includes a guided meditation, links to self-care tools and sources of support related to stress.
One of the best ways to manage stress is to move your body. Any type of physical activity is beneficial to our mental health – gardening, dancing, going to the gym, cycling, running or walking – the Spring Here4U Programme will be available to register for at the end of April.
For information on the wide range of free physical activity opportunities available to Belfast Trust staff watch this video from our Staff Health & Lifestyle facilitator Donna Rooney.
Left unchecked, chronic stress can lead to mental and physical health problems. If you are concerned about the impact of stress on your health please speak to your GP or one of the sources of support listed in the Mind Ur Mind Toolkit.
Stress and unhealthy habits
Stress can also make us more likely to turn to unhealthy habits such as Smoking.
While it might not be possible to remove all sources of stress from our lives, the good news is that there are things we can do to address unhealthy habits.
