Start Your Day Mindfully: 8.45–9.00am Breathing Space Every Wednesday

We are delighted to be facilitating weekly drop-in ‘Breathing Space’ sessions between 8.45 and 9.00am every Wednesday morning.

The sessions will take place on Microsoft Teams and will be delivered by our own colleague, Dr Ceara Clarke – Clinical Psychologist in the RVH.

Everyone is welcome to join.

I’ve never done mindful breathing before – can I join?   

Of course! No experience is necessary and you will be expertly guided through the meditation by Dr Ceara Clarke who works daily with patients managing various health conditions. Coming along each week is a great way to keep practising the exercises so that you can really feel the benefits.

How will it help me before starting my workday?

Mindful breathing is a proven technique for helping to manage anxiety, improve emotional regulation and relax the nervous system before you tackle the day’s challenges. As employees within the health service, we all face a myriad of challenges and stresses on a daily basis. Setting aside 15 minutes for yourself in the middle of the week is an act of self-care. It empowers us to tackle inevitable challenges with a more grounded mindset and clarity of thought. It also reminds us to be grateful – to savour the moments and people that we’re grateful for when we encounter them!

Do I need to have my camera on?

Whilst it would be lovely to see everyone’s faces, it isn’t a requirement to have your camera on. You are more than welcome to join from home or from your place of work. The breathing space can be carried out discreetly from your desk. Staff who are on leave are also more than welcome to join too.

 

How do I get involved?

Simply join the call every Wednesday morning at 8.45am. It begins on Wednesday 29th April and continues weekly. There’s no need to pre-register and no obligation to come every week – although regularly practising the techniques will bring the greatest benefits!
