Mental Health Awareness Week: Take Action 11-17 May 2026
Monday 11th May marks the start of Mental Health Awareness Week and a call to take action to support good mental health. Belfast Trust’s Health Improvement Team provide the following resources to help you take action:
Get Trained Up
Our Mental Health & Suicide Prevention Training Guide details a range of free courses available to help with both understanding and improving your own mental health and learning how to support others. View the guide here to learn more and sign up.
The Staff Health and Wellbeing Team have 2 different training sessions in May that can help improve your health and wellbeing:
-Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing: 5th May 12.30-1pm on MS Teams
Join us to explore 5 simple steps we can do to maintain and improve wellbeing.

BHSCT Health Improvement Team have developed a series of self-help guides to offer support and information on a wide range of topics related to mental health and emotional wellbeing. The guides offer users the opportunity to find out more about the causes of mental health issues and provide tools to work through feelings and emotions as well as links to access local support organisations.
Our self-help guides contain verified information and are written by NHS Clinical Psychologists with contributions from service users, healthcare and voluntary sector staff.
Recently, the platform where you can find these guides was updated to include a range of accessibility features:
- Language translation
- Text size and Contrast options
- Easy Read versions
- British Sign Language Recordings
- Audio Recordings
The guides also include interactive exercises and can be downloaded and /or printed. Please feel free to share them with people using our services and generally within Belfast.
