The Health Improvement Team provide support with local and regional coordination and implementation of parenting support programmes.
While pregnancy and infancy are vital stages in the creation of secure attachments and development, evidence has shown that a parent’s influence extends beyond this. A supportive home environment and parenting skills have been shown to have positive outcomes on children’s overall health and wellbeing.
For information on evidence based parenting programmes or development opportunities for practitioners supporting families please contact the team or see the links below.
Remember parenting is not about perfection! It is important not create unrealistic expectations, pregnancy and parenthood can be exhausting. Self-compassion and self-care are important when expectations are not met.
If struggling with persistent low mood and feelings speak to your GP, midwife or health visitor.
