Carers NI are launching their regional Carers policy Forum. The regional Policy Forum will be carer-led and work to put carers issues front and centre with political decision makers, generating new policy ideas and helping to secure much-needed change.
The Policy Forum will work on issues chosen by carers, with a few large group events within the next year. There will be different sub-groups that will meet more regularly to gather the experiences and decide the direction of the campaigns that matter most to carers. They may focus on issues including the cost of living crisis and social security support; health and social care, access to life outside of caring, equality and human rights, and employment.
The Carers Policy Forum is funded by the Carers Support Fund, delivered by the Community Foundation NI, supported by the Department of Health.
- Carers can attend as many or as few meetings as they like
- Carers can participate in ways and times that works best for them
- Carers will get the opportunity to meet key decision makers to advocate for change
- Funding may be available for replacement care, as part of efforts to support participation with attending the larger events
The inaugural meeting of the Policy Forum will be held on Zoom on the 4 November 2022 11.30 – 12.30, with more events to follow.
