13th– 19th June 2022 Infant Mental Health Awareness Week (IMHAW)
The theme of IMHAW 2022 is Understanding Early Trauma. Experiences in the earliest years of life can impact on brain development, therefore early trauma can have lasting consequences. However, this is not inevitable! Secure relationships with parents and carers can reduce stress caused by trauma and limit the long term impact.
During IMHAW this year The Belfast Trust Health Improvement Team are coordinating online workshops on Infant Mental Health and Understanding Early Trauma:
Workshop for Early Years Professionals: Wednesday 15th June, 9.30 – 11.30am
Early Developmental Trauma and the Helping Professions
Wave Trauma Centre will be delivering a FREE interactive workshop for professionals on Early Developmental Trauma. Topics for discussion will be:
- What is early developmental trauma and how does it relate to Infant Mental Health?
- How to provide services that better support those who have experienced early developmental trauma.
- How to approach this topic with the parents you are supporting.
